2025 Recap: Version 1.0 Release, TarkovTV, Buyanov Interview, and Future Plans
12/31/2025
As the year comes to an end, two notable events took place: the pre-New Year TarkovTV stream and an interview with Nikita Buyanov.
A huge amount of content was announced during the stream. Given BSG’s earlier promises, it’s probably best to treat these announcements as rough plans for the next couple of years, keeping in mind that some of them may never make it into the game. Among the more interesting highlights were new events (“Icebreaker,” End of Line, “Scav Life”), interactive environmental mechanics (breaking door locks, car alarms, “living” wind), transparent scopes, and a rework of optics — all of which sound promising on paper.
Special attention was also given to improving matchmaking and reducing queue and reconnect times. At the moment, this is one of the game’s most painful issues, especially for PvP. During Nikita’s interview, the topic of cheaters was also brought up — another major problem for the game. The response mentioned “six days without cheaters” after release, but without any concrete details on long-term countermeasures.
Summing up everything said during the pre-New Year stream and the post-release interview with Nikita, it’s clear that BSG is committed to actively developing the game further. According to Nikita, the planned content alone should last for at least another 10 years. After what can be described as a not-so-successful release, the so-called “Tarkov 2.0” was announced almost immediately, aiming to address the current issues and lay the groundwork for ambitious future development plans. It would be great to see at least some of these promises realized in the coming year.
And finally, a few words about TarkovHead. What started as a pet project has grown into a full-fledged resource dedicated to our game. This year, just like EFT, TarkovHead also had its full release. Nearly all core features were implemented in 2025: maps, quests, items, hideout modules, and news. Plans for next year are even more ambitious — comments and reactions for quests and news, adding quest walkthroughs and hideout module construction to the tracker, map updates, and many other interesting features. I’m developing the project on my own, so your support matters more than ever. Thank you for using the site — I’m always happy to hear your ideas and feedback.
Wishing everyone a Happy New Year, and see you in 2026!
